June sees the annual upsie-downsie all-day walk, eagerly awaited by some!! We shall hopefully be visiting the eastern flank of Bredon Hill, where we haven’t walked for many years. The idea is to do the hard work first and climb to the summit ridge, then descend to Elmley Castle where we shall eat our lunch on the village green with a drink from ‘The Queen Elizabeth I’ pub, before returning around the base of the hill to the starting point. The walk will take place on Saturday, 10th June and will start in the village of Ashton-under-Hill. To get to the start, follow M5 south to junction 9 [Tewkesbury]. Leave the motorway and turn left on to the A46 towards Evesham. Continue through Ashchurch [watch the speed cameras here!!!] to the Teddington Hands roundabout and here turn left, again following the A46. After about 2 miles, turn left on to a minor road signposted Ashton-under-Hill. When you arrive at the village you will see the church on your left; park where you can in the village and assemble outside the church for an 11.00 start. Drivers, allow 75 minutes in case of traffic problems on the M5. For further details, see Derek or ring him on 429 8314 and do this anyway if the weather forecast is dodgy!
